Unlocking Opportunity to Reduce Diver Stress in Everyday Parking Scenes
A major automotive company partnered with our team to explore how daily parking situations contribute to stress for urban drivers in Japan. Through this, the client sought to identify opportunities to redesign vehicle features and feedback systems to enhance the overall parking experience.
Our Work
- Online pre‑task reflection exercise to understand baseline parking habits, confidence levels, and recalled high‑stress moments
- 12 x in-home and drive-along ethnographic interviews to observe drivers across everyday parking scenarios
The Outcome
- Insight into where stress naturally increased or eased across different parking scenarios
- Understanding of how existing features are used, adapted, or bypassed during real parking situations to identify patterns of trust or hesitation
- Identified opportunities where systems can provide better support to drivers for future feature development
“The team was highly collaborative and responsive throughout the project. Close communication made it easy to align quickly and move forward with confidence.”
